ScaleRx Ion Polarization Scale Prevention systems are designed to treat water with elevated levels of dissolved calcium carbonate or magnesium carbonate to prevent the formation of calcitecrystals, or limescale, on downstream components. ScaleRx uses a patented Turbulent Galvanic Polarization (TGP) technology to disrupt the formation of calcite crystals. After passing through ScaleRx, calcium carbonate crystalizes as aragonite, which doesn’t stick to plumbing components.

How does ScaleRx work?
ScaleRx prevents limescale from forming by causing calcium carbonate to form as aragonite instead of calcite (limescale), it does not chemically alter the water and does not use salt or other chemicals. ScaleRx requires no maintenance, filters or power sources and lasts up to 12 years.
Does ScaleRx require an upstream filter?
ScaleRx does not require a filter upstream of installation. In areas where the incoming water contains large amounts of sediment or debris, such as well systems, we recommend using a filter with a minimum of 50 microns to remove large particles upstream of your plumbing system.
Will ScaleRx void any warranties on my equipment?
No, ScaleRx will not void any warranties on equipment. It meets the requirements of warranties that stipulate using a scale prevention device.
Will ScaleRx remove existing scale from my piping system?
While ScaleRx is a limescale prevention system and not a descaler, it can remove some pre-existing scale deposits over time.
Is ScaleRx safe for drinking water?
Yes. ScaleRx is certified by IAPMO R&T to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 & 372, making ScaleRx safe for use in any drinking water system.
What is aragonite?
Aragonite is a different crystalline structure of calcium carbonate. While chemically the same as calcite, aragonite stays suspended in water and does not bond onto pipes or heating elements. What happens to the water system when aragonite is formed? Aragonite is a small, powdery crystalline structure of calcium carbonate. It stays suspended in water and does not bond onto pipes or heating elements. Aragonite is eventually flushed out of the system as water is used.
Where do I install ScaleRx in my home?
ScaleRx can be installed either directly onto your water heater or other appliance, or on the main water line upstream of your appliances.
How long does ScaleRx last?
ScaleRx contains no filters and is maintenance-free. The body is made of 304 stainless steel, and testing has shown that ScaleRx remains effective after 12 years of constant use with a residential water heater.
What type of pipe do I need to use?
ScaleRx is compatible with hard copper (types L, K and M), PEX, HDPE, PE-RT, CPVC, or and PVC pipe. Brass or plastic adapters may be connected directly to ScaleRx.
Does ScaleRx cause any flow restrictions or pressure drop?
ScaleRx ¾” has a maximum flow rate of 14.1 GPM, while 1” units flow up to 17.6 GPM and have a maximum pressure drop of less than 1 PSI.
